ProteXXion® – customized security solutions
Bayer Technology Services offers a unique solution for the authentication of objects in a way that cannot be manipulated – ProteXXion®. This is based on a laser optics process developed by its British technology partner Ingenia Technology Ltd. This process allows surfaces to be authenticated, with certainty, without any need for additional marking. The object itself becomes the marking. This makes the process unbeatable in terms of security and reliability:
- The surface properties recorded are practically unique – similarly to a DNA sequence;
- The surface properties cannot be faked or copied;
- Any moderate changes to the surfaces such as scratching, bending or being written on, have no adverse effect on recognition.
ProteXXion® is suitable for practically all surfaces, including paper, board, cardboard, plastic, wood, leather and metals. Depending on the surface structure, the process requires a flat area for scanning with a minimum size of approx. 5 x 20 mm. Objects on production or packaging lines can be scanned using a static scanner at speeds of up to 4 m/s.
A reliable means of distinguishing between real and counterfeit objects in value addition or product retail chains has to answer two important questions:
- Are counterfeits introduced into the chain?
- Do real objects leave the chain?
